OSSIMON LAIOM commercialisation
The inventions were developed as a result of the research project entitled ‘Development and implementation of an innovative device for intraoperative monitoring of hearing during tympanoplastic surgery’ (National Centre for Research and Development under the INNOTECH II EDITION project, Agreement No. INNOTECH-K2/ IN2/31/182202/NCBR/13 of 9 May 2013).
In 2016, a patent application for two inventions and four utility models was filed in the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland.
After completing works aimed at protecting the results of intellectual property rights in the INNOTECH II project, the consortium members could commence commercialization of the innovative medical equipment developed in the project – the Laser ASSR Introoperative Ossiculoplasty Monitoring, which was given the trade name OssiMon LAIOM.
OssiMon LAIOM (ASSR Laser Introoperative Ossiculoplasty Monitoring) is an innovative system of simultaneous measurements of aditory potentials and auditory ossification oscillations (AEP + LDV) developed for intraoperative assessment of hearing improvement during middle ear surgery, enabling optimal intraoperative evaluation of the effect of ossiculoplasty and changes in the position, length and shape of the prosthesis during one procedure, with the simultaneous use of two techniques (AEP and LDV).
It is used for middle ear surgery (ossiculoplasty), the aim of which is to remove pathological changes and reconstruct the eardrum and ossicles and to achieve maximum hearing improvement.
